Our Mission -- The Women's Civic League incorporated on November 10, 1911 in order to suggest, obtain, improve and promote desirable and proper living conditions in the City of Baltimore and its suburbs or elsewhere in the State of Maryland, in respect to hygienic and sanitary matters, cleanliness, recreation, ornamentation, cultivation, beautification, the abatement of nuisances of every kind, and generally with respect to any and every subject whatsoever which may in any way affect the safety, health or welfare of the people.
In keeping with the tenets of our originally stated mission, the Women's Civic League is a non-partisan organization. Our membership of nearly 200 women are interested in their community and work as volunteers in a variety of direct service, organizational and advocacy roles.
We cooperate with: Baltimore Attractions Association, Baltimore City Hall (Volunteer Office), Baltimore Council of Historic Sites, Baltimore Office of Promotion and Tourism, Beautiful Baltimore, Bureau of Solid Waste, Citizen's Planning & Housing Association, Cylburn Wildflower Preserve & Garden Center, Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland, Historic Jonestown Business Association, Jonestown Planning Council, Mental Health Advisory Committee (Baltimore City), Mental Health Advisory Committee (Baltimore and Anne Arundel Counties), Police Department of Baltimore City, Police Community Council of Baltimore County.
The Women's Civic League desires to develop and maintain a broad-based membership, from in and around the City and without regard to race or creed.
