Friday, April 23, 2010
was the date for this year's Spring Luncheon. Our annual business meeting immediately followed the meal. The meeting concluded by 3:00 p.m. The luncheon began with cocktails at 11:00 a.m. at the Hopkins Club on the Charles Street campus of JHU. Pictured here at one of our luncheons are Lisa Hurka-Covington, keynote speaker from S.P.E.A.K (Suicide Prevention & Education Awareness for Kids), Governor William Donald Schaeffer and Bertha Pinder (WCL President). Our speaker was radio personality and historian Alan Walden. Alan challenged our knowledge of our country's pre-federal period and of the War of 1812 in a most entertaining fashion.

Friday, May 21, 2010 was the date for our annual Day at the Races. At about this time each Spring, members and their invited guests spend an afternoon together in the Jockey Club at Pimlico Race Track enjoying a catered meal with table service and cocktails - and fine horse racing! This year, the League sponsored the fourth race and presented a memorial silver plate to the winning jockey. Photos of past and present years' "Day at the Races" are still available for purchase. E-mail or phone the office to order as many color prints as you would like for $10 each. Specify which year you would like. [Double J Photos]
